imitation infant by snuurg imitation infant by snuurg
- whoops, nearly forgot to put this up for perusal: so, here's the little laddy-o from that bit before where he was grey, but now puffed up with pinkery - an extremely quick paint-job necessitated by an extremely brisk deadline, hence the overall ropey-ness of the thing, though it's not gonna matter too much 'cause it'll only be getting seen from a bit of a distance anyway, and most likely without much in the way of flattering illumination.

...anyhoo, gottim finished about a couple of weeks ago I guess, just in time for the supposed deadline, and of course plans have since changed and he's been sitting around gathering dust for a fortnight 'til the cackhanded commissioneers get their act together and come to collect, so heyho for rushing things and racking up yer stress-levels, someone make a singalong song so we all can sing along, ding-dong.

- so yup, probably about half an hour's worth of paint-detailing - a quick base-colour in the spray-booth followed up with two or three also very rapid oversprays and speckles to give him a sort of skin-pore-textured look (which of course won't be able to be appreciated at that aforementioned viewing-distance, but ne'er mind), and then a single mushing-in of a quickly-mixed up shading colour to put in some of the darker areas, last of all a dash of black for the eyelashes (ohyeah, forgot to mention that since his preview pic I modellled in some shutty-eyes 'cause the open-effect was a bit too freaky-lookin' for the subject concerned, and put the willies up the client a bit, so...)

...and there ye ruddy have it, a babe from boyland. So far, still looking all nice and awww-fully cute, iznit?

thanks - I think I got away with a lot with the short bit of time involved, and fortunately the bad bits are all 'round the back, and hidden by the fact the actual thing is displayed in a jar full of discoloured water :)

*goes to look up 'rainbabies'*...

- aha. And apparently they made a little film of it, too, might have to see if it's track-downable.

cheers for that - what beggars me most about it is the fact that it turned out not-too-bad-at-all when I took such a lot less time over it than I usually do with things (mainly 'cause it had to be done to a very short deadline)... maybe I shouldn't give meself the luxury of spending too long on things, that's when you start to overthink and end up mucking about and cutting things back and resculpting, and... etc. Dunno.

- sorry, blathered on a bit there.

The real thing always tastes better than imitation.

Like crabs? Imitation - meh. Real - nice.
Eggs? Imitation - ehh. Real - alright.

Nah I was being bad, I had made cupcakes the other day, and seeing them sitting there on the counter, all nicely frosted, and comparing that to actually putting forth some effort and making breakfast...Well, guess which one won? ;) I did have a glass of orange juice though. ;D

well, he has an aluminum armature running right through his middle, then the bulk of his bodily bits are fairly roughly-massed out in plasticene, the whole thing then skinned over with a two-part air-drying epoxy putty sorta stuff. milliput, it's called.
