- just a quickie 'cause I'm dashing about a bit today trying to get too many things dealt with at once, never a good thing - anyway, a short sharp out-of-focus shot of the bits from the moulding/casting test, which thankfully came out a lot less bad than I was expecting 'em to after the length of time things have had to go wrong with the rubber or whatever: the lower jaw needs a bit of work 'cause of a big tear in the mould, but nothing that's too unfixable; the tongue meanwhile has been entirely re-worked, and I'll have to make a separate sock-mould of it for later use in making any further reproductions; likewise, I'm gonna re-master the back-of-the-neck portion of the model and do a remould of that too, it got so distorted over the time lapse that it's not gonna fit to the main head-piece without a lot of work - almost as much as would be involved in just re-hashing the thing, so I'm gonna do that instead, since that at least means I'll then have a mould of the better-fitting new bit, rather than having to remodel the piece every time somebody wants one made. Meanwhile, I've just turned three thicknesses of laminated-together MDF into a nifty-looking trophy-shield backing-thing that ought to set the whole thing off pretty nicely - have to make a mould of that now too, by jiminy - and meanofanotherwhile, I've gotta get busy making some eyes next, since the biggest I can seem to find as far as taxidermied ones go are 38mm biggies for croc/alligator heads, and I need about 45, so I'm just gonna hafta remember up my eye-making skills - which I was kind of gonna do anyway, 'cause I don't like to go cheap and just buy the things, plus, having looked at a close-up of the sort of thing on offer, I reckon I can do 'em better in any case, if I may be allowed to toot me own trumpet a li'l bit.
