  • Mood:
  • Listening to: Tutankhamen's Tiny Trumpet
  • Reading: over your shoulder
  • Watching: where the weather's went
  • Playing: for keeps
  • Eating: all the pies
  • Drinking: thinking, blinking.
...I almost went with beloved bufonid, but brain weighed in wi' tuppence and remindled me that that's for toads, not frogs - good ol' noodle, just top it up to the mark with hot water, works every time. Although possibly that's something else.

- so yep, seems it's been another one of them D-days, thankfully of a non-combative sort, although the same could hardly be said for the subject of it, said frog from the saying at the start. See? Or in other words, something else that makes more sense - you might have to come up with that yerselves though, 'cause you know what I'm like... or maybe not, if you've only just become acquainted by way of the recent amphibian activity going on hereabouts - which is, once more, one more back-flash to our flippy-footed friend, as heretofore hinted at in the titular top-spot. I could go back and begin at the beginning, but by the end of it we'd end up back at this end of things, so maybe it's best to make do, and move on.

Anyway, better hop to it (is there no icon for 'groan' for these lousy jokes? Maybe I could make one from here - then it'd be home-groan, haharr...)

- anyroad up, clearly the frog found favour with a fair few folks, as currently evidenced by the still-expanding logjam of much-appreciated faves and watches getting all stifley in my message-box - and though I realise a lot of those are for things other than mister what's-his-name of the frogular family tree, it's pretty much down to him that a lot of those things that aren't specifically directed at or about him, are in there due to him having hooked 'em into the gallery - possibly utilising that sticky tongue while no-one was paying proper attention - he's a bugger for that sort of thing.

So, on his behalf (eeh, 'ark at me, talking as if he's real people, pfft! Me mother'll bash me fer daftness!), and for them that's got the looks and love at second hand too, I'm working my way up to the biggest possible ta that can be writtled as an excuse for not being able to write and say so personally for every one of you out there who has taken the time to look, fave, watch, or comment - and in many cases, all three and several other things besides, because I know I'll simply never get the chance to say as much as I ought to, to those that have, purely because of the restrictions of time - always feels like a lame excuse, but such is life - and possibly c'est la vie, too, though you might have to go to France to find out.

I wish there was time to do a piece to everyone concerned, but this sort of thing is about as possible as that gets I reckon, so I'm hoping I'll be able to cop out with a collective note of many many thanks to all of you who did the doing of anything to do with my DD, or with the other critters lurking about the place - by which I mean the ones in my gallery, not you lot :p

- so, erm... thanks very much, nice to know you like my stuff :humble:

pehh, no icon for that either.

- thanks for that, glad you think so - I do try to keep things fairly various, though in all honesty I'd probably rather sculpt than anything else - though of course it's the anything else that pays most of the bills, so we does what we must, hehe :)

it's the anything else that pays most of the bills

That's the devil's own truth. Best of luck to you.

"more people need to believe in themselves. it's okay to do that, you know." - *raspil
- no probs. As for the sculpting, I generally use a two-part epoxy putty called 'milliput', it cures without the baking required by stuff like sculpey and fimo so it's one less bit of bother; though saying that, I've been getting into 'greenstuff' lately as I've started doing miniatures - otherwise known as 'kneadatite' to give it the proper name. That's also a two-part air-curing putty, a bit more expensive though as it's more of a specialised medium, whereas milliput was originally created as a plumber's fix-it putty, and is hence a lot less costly-per-packet. Though I dunno what the availability is likely to be like over on your side of the pond...

Paints-wise, pretty much whatever I can get my hands on - any given sculpt will usually have two or three different types of paint on it according more or less to what leftovers I've got lying around the place: typically my main paint-medium is/are enamels (generally Humbrol by trade-name), though I'll also tinker with various acrylics; often I'll apply a base-colour with spray-paint, either straight out of a can from the car body-shop shop, or by way of our spray gun at work - the latter occasionally enabling me to do a little shading work if there are large areas of the base-colour that'll remain showing on the finished piece.

Hope that's some use to you :)
